update?

Google wants me to access this blog, said the email. So, I'm accessing it. I'm no longer a full-time caregiver. The 2 year anniversary of my mom's death is coming up next week. I took care of her for 5 years - I was her main caregiver for 4 of those, and she was in a nursing home for the last year, but with my involvement.

Since then, I've been in University, trying to get the background to do research into Alzheimer's. I started a Master's in Neuroscience in the fall of 2009. Currently, it seems a bit rough as I try to pin down a study for the thesis.

And I volunteer once a week at the local nursing home in the locked unit, and spend a bit of time with the dementia patients there - perhaps to remind me what this disease looks like.

That is the update on my adventures with Alzheimer's. There have been a lot more in between since I started this blog. But I don't have the time or energy right now to write about those.
